About Ipsun Solar
A local installer built around the D.C. region
Ipsun Solar installs solar for homes and businesses in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., and presents itself as a local installer in Northern Virginia and the wider D.C. region rather than a national sales operation. Its profile with the Amicus Solar Cooperative says the name comes from the Latin word meaning "yourself," chosen because generating your own electric power is the core of what it sells. Industry listings, including the Solar Power World contractor list, record the company as founded in 2016, and Ipsun says on its site that it has completed more than 1,000 installations in the DMV.
The company lists a Washington, D.C. office on Connecticut Avenue NW and a Virginia office and warehouse showroom on Spring Street in Fairfax. Its service descriptions center on the Washington metro area, including Northern Virginia and parts of Maryland, so a homeowner at the edge of that region should confirm coverage for a specific address before relying on this profile.
What Ipsun designs and installs
For homeowners, Ipsun designs customized solar solutions rather than selling one fixed package, and it installs roof mounted systems for residences alongside commercial projects. The company says its design, installation and service work is handled by its own team under one roof, and its company profile states that its installers are W-2 employees, not subcontractors.
Home battery storage is the second main offer. The company presents storage as backup power for a storm outage or grid failure, with configurations for emergency loads, whole home access or whole home backup. A third service is solar maintenance: the company says a dedicated maintenance team keeps existing systems producing at peak performance, which matters for owners whose original installer is no longer available.

How a project runs, in the company's words
Ipsun says it handles all the details of an installation, from permits to inspections, so the homeowner does not coordinate those steps directly. Its site frames that as a long term quality point: systems are expected to run for more than 20 years, so permits and licences need to be in order from the start. After installation, owners can track solar production and usage in the company's Ipsun App.
Ownership, cooperative membership and warranty
Ipsun is a Certified B Corporation, a status it displays on its homepage, and a member of the Amicus Solar Cooperative, a cooperative of independently owned solar companies in the United States. In 2024 the company was acquired by Civic Renewables. Its own acquisition announcement said normal operations would continue under the Ipsun name and that existing customer warranties would be upheld.
On equipment coverage, the company's homepage states a 25+ year hardware warranty. That is a company claim about its offer, not a term this directory can confirm for any single roof. The warranty document in the signed contract is the version that binds the company, so read it there before you rely on the number.
